The partitioning and transmutation (P-T) technology is for volume reduction and mitigation of degree of harmfulness of high-level radioactive waste. JAEA is promoting development of the P-T technology by using an accelerator driven system (ADS). To facilitate the development, construction of J-PARC Transmutation Experimental Facility (TEF) is under planning. The ADS-based P-T technology and TEF program will be outlined.

Nuclear data measurements are actively promoted using neutron source of J-PARC in Japan, and also carrying out using n_TOF of CERN and LANCE of LANL in the world. As a result, a lot of various new data have been published. With the progress in new measurement, nuclear reaction calculation code are also advanced. New versions of nuclear data libraries such as JENDL, ENDF and JEFF were published in early in the 2010s. In this manner, activities to promote accuracy and reliability of nuclear data are in progress recently. Status and prospect of nuclear data in the world are reported.

A research project entitled "Research and development for Accuracy Improvement of neutron nuclear data on Minor ACtinides (AIMAC)" has been proceeded to reduce the uncertainty of cross sections of MA by half. As a part of the AIMAC project, a method for measurement of total neutron cross sections is currently being developed, and measurements of total cross sections of Au have been performed to check the performance with the Accurate Neutron Nucleus Reaction Measurement Instrument (ANNRI) of the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex. In this presentation, I will present the current development status for the measurements of total cross sections with the ANNRI.
